The weirdest thing of all is when you try to replace a lead singer. No one knows the bassist or drummer by sound and if you pretend to- you’re full of crap. But a lead singer is literally the voice of a band- it’s the identifying tone of an entire group. Now, let’s take a legendary band, one with a distinct back story and try to replace the lead singer. You’re doomed. You’re karaoke, you’re not the same band.
The beautiful Annabella Lwin was just a teen when she got naked and posed for album covers in her adorable Mohawk. She belted out bubble gum punk with yelps and hiccups that made you fall madly in love with her. Decades (three and a half to be exact) have passed and matured and gorgeous shes opted to go solo. Taking with her the voice that made Bow Wow Wow distinct.
Rather than call it quits the original member Leigh Gorman thinks he can whip up a 2013 Bow Wow using Matt Fuller (who came on board in 2012) and Tig Moore, the drummer you never heard of. Lets screw it up more by adding Chloe Demetria as lead singer….who? A Berklee grad from Stillwater MN. How about we just end it here. Its not Bow Wow Wow at all its Leigh Gorman and the ‘hope to make a buck off the 80s’” band. Yuck.
They’re touring with Gene Loves Jezebel who were pretty cool back in the day… but weren’t we all?
Skip this one and support Annabella solo. One local date in Brooklyn the rest in places that are happy to see any band bother to play.

I’m 51 now and my very first concert was Bow Wow Wow (opening for Missing Persons) in 1981. I’ve been a fan all of these years and was initially disappointed and feeling similar sentiment to what was expressed in this article when I heard that Annabella had been replaced; That was up until just this last weekend when I saw Chloe Demetria perform with the current Bow Wow Wow line-up. I doubt the author of this article had given her a chance; if you had actually seen her you would know that she gives an absolutely masterful performance fronting the band. She’s got the looks, moves, and the voice to pull if off…and she does! I wish Annabella lots of deserved success in whatever her current endeavors are (I would love to check out her solo stuff!). However, I’ll definitely be very happy the next time Chloe rocks my town with Bow Wow Wow!

Bow wow wow without Annabella is like seeing Culture Club without George or Duran with Simon le Bon, Siouxsie without the banshees….just Pointless sorry!!!
