2. Rush Apart – The Rural Alberta Advantage – Marie Lynn’s Saddle Creek folk-rock heroes.

3. Every Girl – Drake – Lil Wayne completely overwhelms the track.

4. Peacemaker – Green Day – Jewish vaudeville as rock raga.

5. Rise Above – Dirty Projectors – This is the track that gave notive.

6. Psychick Dancehall – The Fall – I was working on a Fall post at the time.

7. This Dream Of You – Bob Dylan – Like being in a bar in Juarez with a squeezebox

8. Spoiled – Conor Oberst – It’s Conor, what’s not to like?

9. Leftovers – Jarvis Cockers – The one where he makes no bones about it before getting to the huggin’ and the kissin’

10. A Change Is Gonna Come (Live) – Adam Lambert – You know how much shit I’ve taken from Lambert because of this cover? It’s Allan Houston’s game winner against Miami for the Knicks. I’ve forgiven Lambert a year of fucking about because of this.

11. The Christian Life (Take 11) – The Byrds – Gram Parsons takes lead.

12. Love, Sex, Magic (feat Justin Timberlake) – If this chick is an also ran what the fuck is this song?

13. I Know You Want Me – Pitbull – And 8 months later he blew everybody at Jingle Ball off the stage.

14. Love Your Love The Most – Eric Church – The sorta singer country throws up a coupla times a decade: Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, John Anderson. Just pure soulful singing.

15. Maybach Music 2 – Rick Ross – Didn’t break the way it shoulda.

16. See How We Are – X – Is their middle name trouble?

17. Alcoholics Unanimous – Art Brut – I would like this guy more if he wrote better songs.

18. Native New Yorker – Booker T – The world doesn’t know how to promote this giant. There is no reason this album didn’t sell 100 – 150K.

19. Sleepyhead – Passion Pit – Think they doctored the vocal?

20. All Over The World – Pet Shop Boys – Every time they don’t sell a million copies I think homophobia. I can’t imagine any other reason.

21. You’re Still On My Mind (Rehearsal) – The Byrds – Nessing dya know this??? Parsons again. The extended Sweethearts of The Rodeo is just a must buy. My friend Richard Fantina introduced me to this album 30 years ago (ergo ten years after it was released!!!). “An empty bottle, a broken heart and you’re still on my mind”… story of my life.

22.  So Human – Lady Sovereign – ANOTHER ALBUM THAT SHOULDA BEEN HUGE. Terrific at Highline, this proves she could do more than rap grimey.

23. Miss Independent – Neyo –  My friend Christopher Clarke thinks Neyo is the best singer around and Christopher knows from soul singers. This is why,

24. Darling One (Feat Adam Durwitz) – Cracker – If you can get past Durwitz, a gorgeous power ballad.

25. Midday (Avoid The City At Night) – Yusuf – Gives Islam a good name but still waiting for him to play a big gig in NYC.
