Would Courtney Love be back in action? She has announced a series of shows in June and July, as simply ‘Courtney Love’, and she has been shopping around to form a new band.
She originally wanted to form an all-girl-band, but it seems she will have to add a few guys after all. Talking to Bust magazine, she admitted:
‘I put an ad on Craigslist that said, ‘Band in the style of Hole looking for bassist in the style of Melissa Auf der Maur’. I got exactly one response. There’s just not a lot of chick bass players.’
What is she talking about, every time I see a band, there is a girl at the bass, it is on the contrarily a very common thing! But the Hole woman is always trying to arrange the facts to her convenience.
As usual, she is not timid about self promotion and not short of self congratulation, as she describes her new music (actually only two songs for now) as ‘two excellent songs’, adding: ‘I have two new really good songs, and I’d rather just release the two excellent songs—like an old-school single. The first song, ‘Wedding Day,’ is impeccably great as a slab of really raw rock with an insane hook. The second song is called ‘California’—clearly a leitmotif. I’ve written ‘Malibu,’ ‘Pacific Coast Highway,’ and ‘Sunset Strip,’ so if I want to call something ‘California,’ it had better be good.’
His last album with Hole, ‘Nobody’s Daughter’ was soooo good that Pitchfork gave her a 2.9 and most of the critics hated it (Iman included), but she hasn’t lost any confidence, well she is Courtney Love: ‘My name symbolizes a lot of things, and I have to sit in these rooms with lawyers and be called a ‘brand’ often, so I was just like, ‘Fucking name it after me!’ I don’t care.’
But there’s not a chance we will see a Hole reunion any time soon as she claims ‘it’s just not me’, whereas she has had in fact ‘some serious beef with Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson’. Isn’t it what always happens with her anyway?
Oh yeah in the interview there is also a lot of BS about protecting Kurt Cobain and his music, and not being crazy despite the numerous lawsuits and the endless twitter rants. I actually think Love isn’t a crazy person, she just acts like one most of the time and she still manages to be the center of attraction for long articles in celeb magazines like this one, even though she hasn’t anything new to sell or say.
