“Yahoo! On The Road” has lined up performances by John Legend, fun., The Lumineers, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons and others, and could potentially be zooming through your town. Its an odd line up on this maiden voyage of yet another corporate sponsored tour.
We’re excited to hit the road and engage with Yahoo! fans around the U.S. and Europe,” Yahoo! CMO Kathy Savitt said. “Our mission is to make the world’s daily habits entertaining and inspiring; and nothing brings that to life more than surprising and delighting our users in their daily routines with some of the most popular names in music and entertainment.”
Being called the “world’s first mobile entertainment and innovation festival,” Yahoo On The Road launches the journey May 3 in New York City with performances by John Legend and the Salome Chamber Orchestra. But where? See, this is the angle, you have to follow them to figure it out. I don’t know about you but Im not that interested in John Legend to have a treasure hunt to find him.
So, how do you connect with Yahoo! On The Road? One way is to visit the tour’s website and request text updates for a specific date. For tickets, follow @YahooOnTheRoad on Twitter and “like” the tour’s Facebook page. Yahoo! sez “getting a ticket will be as easy as uploading a photo with Flickr or downloading the new Yahoo! Weather app.”
Are you fucking kidding me? Text uploads and downloading apps to see The Lumineers? I think Yahoo had a good idea but made it slightly too invasive. I just want a ticket and a chair. I don’t want your weather reports and I certainly don’t want to ‘like’ you for a reward.
I understand that I am not the ‘average joe’, when it comes to this stuff. I don’t like contests, and I don’t like group activities but I know a lot of people who love this sort of thing so.. more power to ya. Go follow them or something.
