Impressed by The Next Day? I thought it was pretty good but be honest… didn't you listen to Ziggy Stardust a helluva lot more? I don't wish Bowie had stayed home with the family, it isn't a shameful album, certainly the equal or superior to his 00s work, maybe even his 90s, so good. But it isn't much fun now is it? Not much of a pop move.
So, if Noel Gallagher is correct, and I would assume he has slightly better connects that I do, there wil be a Day After Next, as Bowie recorded 29 songs at the Visconti produced sessions. Gallagher told the BBC : ''According to people I've spoken to, there's another album in the pipeline. There was, like, 29 songs or something 'I don't know what's next for Bowie. He could disappear for another ten years or there could be another album. He might do the greatest tour of all time or he might never gig again. Who knows?''
Oh, ok. Gallagher was also staggered by the quality of the album but let's be honest, what does that mean? That Gallagher considers Bowie a hasbeen and is amazed he can raise a pen to paper?
Me, I'm not so staggered. I give it three third tier Bowie and a ton of also rans, and if I give it a relatively high grade it is because better third rate Bowie than 1st rate Noel Gallagher. Or at least in 2013, where Noel has lost his great gift for stealing masterful melodies and making them his own. As for Bowie, what a miserable git. Cmon guy, you are Bowie, cheer the hell up.
