Wings Over America Box Set? I Am So There

When I was a wee pup of, well not that wee, of 20, I flipped out over Wings Over America, McCartney's triple detailing the Wings US concert to sold out arenas in private jets with mullet haircuts and kids in the luggage.

within a year, I would disown it competely but heal times all wounds and once punk had become New Wave I made my way back to Macca and saw him live for the first time, a solo MSG gig with Linda, in 1989 and haven't missed him since.

BUT back in 1976 I was a McCartney fanatic, was an insanely big fan, and loved every second of this triple and it still stands as his best live album despite the Yankee Stadium gig I considered the best of 2011, he was completely awesome that night and I gave it a very rare A+.

But Wings Over America meant more because it was as close as I had got to a living breathing Beatle and I had loved all his solo stuff up to then: even Wild Life. And while for you a new Wings Box set might be ho hum, and if it was Speed Of Light or London Town, I might well agree, but tjhis album means a lot to me. For all its problems, for all the complaints that he performs the songs exactly like the recorded versions, I still love it.

Here is what you get with the Box Set, release date May 29th: "Wings Over America, the multi-million-selling 1976 live album from Paul McCartney and Wings, is getting the royal treatment — box set-wise that is — with a new four disc set that will include a CD of songs recorded at San Francisco's Cow Palace and a DVD with a full-length documentary filmed on the tour. And in case you needed more, the 1980 Wings concert video Rockshow will make it's first appearance on DVD and Blu-Ray on June 11."
