Must See: Sinatra In The Park, This June

City Parks Foundation are having their annual Fundraising Gala on June 11th and the concert part of it will be produced by Michael Dorf of the City Winery. He will be performing his best trick, getting performers to cover material by a single artist. And this year it will be the greatest singer of the 20th century being tributed. A man with more style in his little finger than the rest of the world ever has had. Andd I am betting it will be very very good performers indeed. Whatever caveats I had about the Prince Tribute at Carnegie Hall earlier this year, none of them were the line up which was pretty damn impressive.

So, not unlike the way we don't wait for the Summer Jam or Jingle Ball Line Ups to buy a ticket, there is no reason to wait for the line up for the Sinatra In The Park before buying a ticket. Though I know what I am hoping for: I am hoping for folks like Nellie McKay and Michael Feinstein and Betty Buckley (and my pal Jack Phillips!) to bring Sinatra back to the cabaret circuits where he belongs. Maybe Paul Zdot??? Michael Buble and Robbie williams!!! Well, maybe that is too much like wishful thinking.

The City Parks Foundation Gala is not just for the muckety mucks, but if you ARE a muckety muck it looks like tons of fun. Here is their info:
