Bouncers With Breathalyzer, The War On Underage Drunken Club Kids

If you are too young to drink in a club you either get the X on your hand or a wristband system is in place.  Gonna drink you're sporting Tyvek jewelry.  But underage and up for fun you drink before the club and smuggle a refill on your person.  Generally that job is given to the big girl in the group who carries a suitcase like handbag.  Works like a charm and its been the norm for years.

Now now, this is 2013 and clubs are hit with massive fines for having drunk kids on their premises.  So what's a club owner to do to make sure he's not going to go out of business on a violation?  Enter Boulder Colorado's Aggie Theater.  You'll be greeted by bouncers withe breathalyzers as they try the latest idea in keeping the tipsy teens off property.  Oh and you're getting a pat down as well.

After 24 underage drunk calls, 50 medical emergencies the Aggie Theater needed to do something.  A smaller club with a 650 person capacity, there isn't a heap of money to waste on fines and legals.

“Underage patrons who are visibly intoxicated are consistently found in or associated around an event at the Aggie,” police said. “This happens more at the Aggie than it does at any other establishment in the downtown area.”

The venue was recently forced to stop selling alcohol for five days and during a court hearing over its liquor license, owner Scoo Leary took “100 percent responsibility” for the violations, the Coloradoan said.  But the bigger problem were kids entering drunk, the breathalyzer is the key to the club now.  Fail and you're denied entry- simple truth.

It seems a simple plan, one that cant exactly be a violation of rights and if you're not drunk you wont care- right?   I suppose some parent will bitch about their kid being subjected to the intrusion but in all honesty, I think its a great idea.
