A couple of things here. Prince is amazing and a filthy sexy beast. I have been a fan for decades mostly because of his filth. He's like a backdoor porn shop with a guitar. What more could personify rock and roll?
That being said, with all that silly name changing stuff he ended up boring me. Then that Holy renegade door knocking evangelist stuff… the marriage, the miscarriage…….zzzzz. The last thing this world needs is a rock God behaving like a human. We need more psycho Rick James stuff. But Prince lived through some normalcy and meh…
But this… this is Prince. There is nothing 'average' about him. Remember that fabulous SuperBowl set?! Anyway, this is about his performance on Fallon.
Jimmy Fallon (who always appears to be on the verge of busting a gut) is the late night hero of musical guests. It used to be Conan but he peaked and crashed. So to see Prince on Fallon is a joy.
The song 'Screwdriver" with lines like "I'm your driver and your my screw", blast my aging fangirl back to '82 with a squeal of devious delight. Could this guy be 'back'? Ok, ok he never left but he left my musical rotation. This performance and this song are flawless…….almost.
The all girl band is all fine and dandy but how about we perform in front of a mirror ladies? There is nothing at all sexy about the labor pain expressions you're making. Your not pushing out a beluga….you're playing bass, calm down.
Other wise……hot damn Prince you fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.
