Our consciousness-rising revolutionary rockers continue their weekly release, with this time a rather feminist song, ‘She Craves Spring’, produced by Tom Morello one more time.
Starting with killer bluesy guitars, muted trumpet and bold vocals, the rock ballad takes the point of view of a woman in search of freedom for everyone, ‘She craves spring not for herself alone’, then later on, just after the music has exploded with the help of Lindi Ortega’s powerful vocals, it re-affirms its no-gods-no-masters message:
‘Unleash the fury held down for so long/This woman knows there's no man above/Your brothel's are filled with a slave-master's love/All my sisters, ready to fly/Breaking tradition holding half the sky.’
Some perfect anthem for International Women’s Day, March 8th, the date they picked for the release of their ‘Here is The Rose’ EP.
