This time of the year is coming up, the best weeks to be in Los Angeles, I am talking about the weeks around Coachella dates! Let’s face it, Coachella is not exactly about music, it’s more about parties, drugs and hipster clothes, it’s not possible to appreciate hundreds of bands playing there in just a weekend, as it is simply too much at the same time. I like to concentrate on one band at the time, and festivals are the opposite of this. But if you are lucky enough to be in LA around these Coachella dates, there are a lot of bands which are hanging around for two weeks and just want to keep themselves busy, so Goldenvoice has published this above poster showing up all the Coachella-affiliated shows happening from April 10th to 23rd around Los Angeles and Orange County!
So little time, so many shows! This is the occasion to see Lou Reed, Trent Reznor’s How to Destroy Angels, Vampire Weekend, Passion Pit, the XX and so many others in very good conditions: in an air-conditioned theater, without sweating off all this expensive Coachella water, and you will even be able to sleep in your bed the same night! I know, camping is fun, but I am way over it.
Plus if you are in San Diego, there are also shows for you – Nick Cave! Tegan and Sara, the Faint, Kurt Vile, Youth Lagoon,.. – as this year the deal expands farther, going as far as Ventura and Pioneertown.
It is of course impossible to attend all these shows as a lot of them are occurring the same night, but when you look at this poster, it is like a third mini-Coachella spread all over the counties.
