iPhone apps are either fabulous or pure garbage. In just a couple days I have installed and removed so many its rather funny. Most are just a bore but one made my heart race so fast I thought I would have to call 911.
An app called 'Bands In Town" is stunning. Set your location and BOOM every show in your area right at your finger tips. Links to maps and ticket sites and it even pulls from your iTunes library to chart their tour activity. A music lovers dream right? RIGHT its so nice to have a once stop mobile app of three states (I chose MA, CT and NY) and the feeling of being on the cutting edge of info served my ego well.
But..
I stumbled upon tour date for Big Audio Dynamite. I would chop off my foot to see them live and low and behold they're playing Arlene's Grocery a teeny tiny venue in NYC! So of course now I feel all privy to top secret show and let out a whoop cuz I am not gonna miss it. I click on the 'buy tickets icon..
the show isn't listed. Say what?
So I give a shout out via Twitter- Arlene's needs to know that this is out there- imagine the riot it could cause if it leaked and there was no Mick Jones That would be absurd. Cuz Arlene's kicks ass They tweeted back with a "NOT HAPPENING!" and were able to dispel the rumor before it got out of hand
.
So although I love this app, you need to use it with caution. Double check the venue and even check the band website for more details on their tour. I will continue to use it- its a keeper. I just really hope this hub bub gets Jones and the bro's out for a nice big fat BAD reunion tour cuz I am so there when it happens.
