And so this is how it ends, not with a big bang but with Mike Love per his contract canning the rest of the Beach Boys are hard feelings surfacing again.
Brian Wilson had this to say at the Grammys: ''I'm disappointed and can't understand why he doesn't want to tour with Al, David and me. We are out here having so much fun. After all, we are the real Beach Boys. 'By Mike not wanting or letting Al, David and me tour with the band, it sort of feels like we're being fired. 'Al and I want to keep going because we believe we owe it to the music.''
The big news here appears to be that Wilson will be performing with the remaining Beach Boys and we will again have two versions of the band running round the States and as long as one of them includes Wilson for whom the worrds troubled genius were made. I have no Problems.
I was among the minority who simply wasn't thrilled with the reunion concert and I promise Brian didn't appear to be enjoying himself at all though his comments to the press suggest otherwise. And what would it be like without Love? Better than the Beach Boys without Brian Wilson that's for sure. Maybe they will kill "Kokomo".
I don't think this is speculation, I think Wilson will be back on tour with the "fired" members of the Beach Boys by 2014 and I will be there one more time, hoping and praying they play Summer Days (And Summer Nights). I mean, I see no reason why they wouldn't find an easy way to go deep into their catalog and I would love to hear "Bugged By My Ol' Man: now we know HOW bugged by their old man.
