Good Ol’ Bret Michaels. Alive and kicking and spreading himself over all forms of media. He’s recording, and touring and hosting television programs. What I can’t quite grasp is his popularity . The 80s were a long time ago and although I know many women my age who find him a real looker- I do not. Nor do I find ‘being a real looker’ a reason to watch a program on recreational vehicles. This is a great indication of what our viewing pleasures are. The reality TV craze is frantic to find new things to entertain us.
I am a victim of this. I get caught up in some of the worse programs and they do keep getting worse. I can assure you I will at least catch a glimpse of the Travel Chanels new offering. “Rock My RV” is basically Pimp My Ride for campers. Dig this cheesy promo quote:
"For the past 25 years, Bret Michaels has spent at least 9 months out of the year in a tour bus that he personally designs from top to bottom," said Andy Singer, Travel Channel GM. "We couldn't think of a better frontman than Bret for the series. He lives and breathes life on the road, and undoubtedly, holds the record for the most hours logged in a custom coach. Bret jumped at the chance to share his passion for travel and the RV experience through the fascinating, obsessive world of customizing RVs."
“Between touring and traveling, I spend a lot of time on the road, and my tricked-out, custom coach is my home away from home," says Michaels. "I crisscross the country and live in my tour bus, and I know how to take an RV from ordinary to extraordinary. I can't wait to put my expertise to use and show people how to make their RVs rock."
Yup, Bret is going to put a stripper pole in your Winnebago. Do you really want to end up in a KOA campground with a Bret Michaels custom hair metal concoction on your side? I’m thinking those are tight enough quarters without having to deal with pyrotechnics and massive PA systems. Silly fun I suppose but I swear if Bret has another death scare on the show or near its premier I’m going to flip my lid.
