40th anniversary of The Old Grey Whistle Test
BBC Radio 2 is resurecting "The Old Grey Whistle Test" in honor of its 40th anniversary. I have snagged more videos of this program off of Youtube than I care to mention and its amazing to think theyre 40 years old.
Now its going audio and yes its in the UK but original star "Whispering" Bob Harris has called this, “a massive reunion, featuring superstars of British and American music.”
Well its a line up of some pretty heavy hitters and there is no pun intended there Elton John, Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Roger Daltrey and Mark Knopfler will take part in the series.
16-part radio series, Old Grey Whistle Test 40, will be broadcast in August and feature interviews and new performances from artists who appeared on the original TV series.
We in the United States can sit and pout until it ends up online or on disc–which it will in multi disc set with novelty laminate or some other silliness.
