Elton John On Bands Not Leasing Their Songs To Glee

Elton John is cooler than Kings of Leon, that’s a real revelation because who didn't know that already?

Visiting Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and talking about his music being covered in American Idol, Elton had this to say about bands which have turned down an offer from Glee:‘There’s a big debate going on about the Glee thing at the moment, a lot of bands say, ‘We don’t want our stuff on Glee.’ Like, ‘Lighten up, you assholes… I mean, this is a compliment. Also, it sends a positive message out. What the hell is wrong with you guys?’… ‘Kings of Leon, yeah … lighten up guys, c’mon … Listen, when someone wants to do your song, it’s a compliment’.

Elton is so right.

But there is a little bit more to the story. Back in January 26, KOL’s drummer Nathan Followill had sent a batshit-crazy tweet to Ryan Murphy (Glee co-creator) in response to his comments about the band not wanting their music to be used:‘Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating 7yr olds how to say fuck’.

Of course, Murphy has since commented about it saying it was a homophobic comment, and I agree… homophobic or sexist? ‘Buy a new bra?’ what’s wrong with this guy?

So the homophobic part may have played a role in Elton John’s reaction, dropping KOL’s name during the Jimmy Fallon’s show, because after all, KOL are not the only ones having rejected Glee’s proposition: Gun N’Roses’ Slash, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Barbara Streisand have also said no to Glee. I guess Elton thinks Barbra is an asshole as well and would pay cash money to tell Barbra that to her face.
