Yoko Ono: Some Thoughs On…

One of the funnest things about buying a tix for an upcoming concerts is going back to the musician in question and listening to their material again. Which is what I have been doing in anticipation of the BAM Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band extravaganza. This is the first seeing Ono live for me and I’m plenty thrilled.

So in no order whatsoever… som ethoughts on Yoko Ono.
1. She is sexy. yes, even at seventy-six, her moans and whinies are provocative in the extreme.
2. “Walking On Thin Ice” is one of the saddest songs ever written. In 2003 there was an album of dance mixes of this song and the Pet Shop Boys electro mix is also a must hear.
3. Ono is a new yorker -she met Lennon a London exhibition of her work.
4. She is also an artist and her forays into pop music have been fraught with difficulties. Season Of Glass is an astounding pop album about Lennon’s murder but all her pop songs on Lennon-Ono albums just can’t compare with his.
5. Of course neither does anybody elses.
6. I am four songs deep on the Plastic Ono band newbie and I am impressed within certain lines of demarcation.
7. In a remarkably difficult position, Lennon’s widow, she has handled herself IMMENSELY WELL, for thirty years.
