You Gotta Hear or at least See, SHIT HORSE!
If you haven’t had the please of gracing your ears with some tunes from Chapel Hill’s own Shit Horse, then give your retinas an early b-day present and watch their new music viedo/ short film “Shit Horse Rides,” which just premiered in the UK today.
My first thoughts: pretty tripy, but in a good way, not LSD trippy, just kind of weird/cool/different trippy. But hey, what can you expect from a band that has three young, white rock musicians from Carrboro in addition to Danny Mason, a black front-man whom is a little over 20 years older than the youngest of the Carrboro boys.
What a band dynamic they have.
The 11 minute video, comprised of live footage of the band fused with some abstract artistic shorts, takes you on a journey. One starting in the Shit Horse World HQ, that goes through a tattoo parlor, the local bodega,( actually in NC we just call them convenient stores), a field of green grass, an artist’s lab, and finally to… You’ll have to watch and find out for yourself!
I am not much of a fan of current music videos, they are mostly crap, stuffed w bs topped off w the lasted stupid market trends, ( I liked Riot !n Paris’s choose your own adventure vid which i reviewed a few months back, and maybe a babies handful more). I enjoyed this video bc its different, it tells a story, its trippy, and its Shit Horse.
