Winner- Drake – During Drake’s one day only OVO Fest in hometown Toronto, he brought out the following rappers in an epochal you hadda be there set: French Montana, TLC, J. Cole, Miguel, Diddy and Ma$e (they performed “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems”!!), A$AP Rocky, Lil Wayne and KANYE WEST. By any shows standards this was a superstar line up and one of the great rap shows of our times. Summer Jam should be so lucky!
Loser – D-Angelo – Yeah, I had tix for his set at Williamsburg Park and yeah I got a last second message (from Hele, who got it from Twitter) that the show had been cancelled and given the weather maybe not a tragedy, but still…. that was bad. Next thing we hear, the eccentric extreme loner weirdo is being rushed to hospital with “serious but he’ll recover” headlines all over the place. As for the follow up to his 2000 album? Two years ago it was 97% completed. Is this the game for D’Angelo?
