Here is a question to conjure up dreams of singer songwriter heaven, Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens is to be inducted to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, will be play at the induction, April 10th at Barclay Center?
If he will, we will probably get a 20 minute set with Cat jamming with some of his contemporaries and that is exciting news which, though I’d be much happier with a rock em sock em full length set a la Brazil, if this is what we get than this is what we get.
Call me a cynic but I assume the evening itself is gonna be a nightmare of sound and vision and ego, though, to be honest the MSG 25th Anniversary was quite pleasant a couple of years ago. Yet, if you have ever been to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, I haven’t but I once went to the nice closed Auxiliary and it was the definition of rock and roll hell, you get the feeling it is going to be wretchedly terrible self congratulations for four hours seen from miles away, Just the thought of Dave Grohl’s acceptance speech for Nirvana terrifies me. And yet, yes, for the chance to see Cat Stevens in person I just don’t feel like I have any choice in the matter. It must be seen.
Tickets go on sale “in January”, which means I am going end up paying $250 for a nosebleed from Stubhub for the honor of nothing I want to see but Cat Stevens.
