With new albums by Bright Eyes, TV On The Radio and My Morning Jacket, 2011 was meant to be a great year for indie rock. Unfortunately something happened on the way to the bank. All three albums were good but not great.
2012 might be better! Sleigh Bells sophomore effort should be killa dilla (I've yet to see them live and will make a real effort next year), SB are a special bell (so was Poison The Well, by the way, I only saw him once but was suitably awed) but what are they gonna do for an encore? Widen the scope of the two piece, naturally.
Animal Collective are a band I got wrong forever, and am happy to announce, have learnt the error of my ways. Last year's Panda Bear turned it round for me (I quite liked him live as well) and I am very eagerly awaiting their latest effort.
Finally, I hope of montreal simplify on the next one. The best stuff I've heard by them was the daytrotter session.
So will 2012 be the revenge of Brooklyn?
