Wild Flag's debut album is the best rock of the year. Phenomenal at Radio City earlier this year, blowing both Bright Eyes and Superchunk off stage, Carrie Brownstein plus Janet Weiss, Helium's Mary Timony, and The Minders' Rebecca Cole, became instantaneous contenders for greatest band on Earth.
Their debut album is streaming on NPR (it is released in a couple of weeks) and it is simply important. If you give a toss about music, I mean. Lean stringy alt rock, doesn't quite capture the wilness of their live performance, but I'll take it.
