Roger Waters and David Gilmore came together for a charity gig earlier this year. But the last remaining Pink Floyd, Nick Mason, wouldn’t join them.
Why?
Nick explained himself to the UK’s Daily Telegraph: “That particular event wasn’t right for a reformation of Pink Floyd,” he said. “I said I would do it, but it was a charity event for suits, and it felt wrong to turn a small thing into a big deal just because Jemima Khan was in attendance. Why play for a lot of posh totty instead of some of the other things we should save that up for, a Live 8 type of thing?”
Also, can you get more controversial than a Palestinian charity? All governments are corrupt, Arabic governments are more corrupt than that and Palestinian more than the Arab. When my Dad gave money to the Palestinian cause, he went to the camps in person, and put money into the hands of the children and mothers, so it didn’t go into politicians pockets.By the way, just to give you an idea of my dad, the land the camps were squatting on were owned by my Dad and NOBODY was paying rent.
Roger Waters had hitch hiked through Lebanon as a teenager and was taken by the kindness of the Lebanese people. Shame he wasn’t helping them.
