"Whiskey In Hell", Anarbor Reviewed

I've been a fan of Anarbor for a long time and I totally respect them as musicians.  They always were in it just for the pure joy of making music, of expressing themselves, and being sincere.

Oh, wait.  Nevermind.

They released a new song called "Whiskey In Hell" and they may as well had titled it "Hey, We're Sellouts Now".

Anarbor was the last band I would've expected to sing about drinking and smoking considering they always seemed to be so about the music, especially their song "Always Dirty, Never Clean".  The band was never about being cool, never about impressing the masses.  I always admired them for this considering they seemed to be the rare few who weren't singing about a bottle of Jack and getting lucky.

Unfortunately, this has changed.  "Smoke a pack a day" seems to be their new motto.  How incredibly disappointing.  They're not cool anymore.  The excessive amount of liquor/weed references and curse words just makes them all sound like tools.  Anarbor may think this makes them sound like a party band, and that it'll bring them more fans, but I think they're doing it the wrong way.  The only reason people even like this song is because since they're not old enough to consume alcohol, any excuse to talk about it is the equivalent.

I'm highly disappointed in Anarbor's new definition of 'cool'.

Lame.
