2010 was the year of the cancelled and postponed concert.
A rough economy made for terrible ticket sales.
Wait was it the tough economy or the limit hit by fees and service charges?
They say the average consumer attends 3-4 concerts A YEAR.
Take in to consideration I usually see 2 a month and other writers here exceed that.
A conservative 3 a year and still stadiums cant fill
So what to do?
Bands like The English Beat, offer discounts for those in a jam. Others do as well but now word from Fox News says we could could be looking at a universal lowering of ticket prices. Those promoters are feeling confident that with lower ticketing fees Joe Consumer is going to spend more on beer and swag.
The thought being, buy the ticket months before the event at a ‘great’ price, then you hit the show still feeling like an economic win.
Hmm
My average club show is 12-25 bucks. With fees I can tack on about 30%. Pretty nuts. How about we remove all the fees or at least incorporate them in
to the actual ticket price so we don’t feel fleeced?
I wouldn’t wear a band tshirt purchased after 1987 if you paid me.
But I do know kids who do spend up to $50.00 on a sweatshirt.
So maybe they’re right. Get them in the door and sic the hucksters after them
But what price is fair?
Whats Pearl Jam worth? Gaga? Usher?
Not sure, but somethings got to give or sell outs are going to be few and far between.
