On the strength of Jonah Weiner’s rave in Slate and a rave in the Village Voice I finished off Wavves King Of The Beach. This despite not being mad keen on the three tracks I owned.
I can’t hear it -maybe it is waiting to click somewhere but as of now it ain’t happening. Big keeper “Post Acid” is OK and the chorus is really good but the melody doesn’t hit hard enough. It is, like most of the album, a little whatevery.
Oh, and the bloke in the Voice? He thought “Idiots” -prhaps the most annoying song Nathan has ever written, was uproarous. What was so funny about it? Who wants that fake laugh sticking in your ear? It is like the Stones snoring on Satanic Majesties. Just awful
So I may change my mind but for right this second? A big disappointment.
