The Strange Tale of VAN MORRISON’s New Son Continues to Get Stranger…
MUSIC NEWS – The odd story of the reported birth earlier in the week of Van Morrison’s new son (George Ivan Morrison III ), and his prompt denial, takes a new twist as the UK’s Daily Mail reports that Gigi Lee is in fact real and Van Morrison knows her! She’s been part of his staff, worked as his tour manager and is involved with several of his companies. Specifically, Gigi Lee is credited as executive producer of Morrison’s 2009 “Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl” concert DVD. The LA Weekly said Lee was backstage during its May 2009 interview with Morrison, and the British Sunday Times quoted her in a September 2009 story about a forthcoming documentary on Morrison.
After the initial birth announcement on his own website, Morrison went into damage control mode and claimed the announcement was a hoax placed by a hacker and that he did not know who Gigi was. Apparently, Gigi is very real and a director of 14 of his companies, and more intriguing, Little Van is also real.
UK’s Daily Mail says that Dallas, TX based Gigi was Van Morrison’s tour manager and a director in his companies. The pair have been seen together on several occasions and in June 2009 Gigi told her friends she was pregnant with Van’s child. Gigi says she met Van in 1998 at, believe or not, Ron Wood’s home when she was in London to attend the christening of Mick Jagger & Jerry Hall’s son Gabriel.
