Vampire Weekend: The Kids Stand A Great Chance by Mary Magpie and Iman Lababedi

Mary Magpie Writes:
Vampire Weekend’s drummer is the happiest drummer alive. Dancing, smiling, and so incredibly ecstatic. His face throughout the entire time resembled 😀 greatly.
They were infectious, with some pretty intense guitar playing. I’ve never seen them live but seeing that one song makes me want to be their best friend. They were all really happy and truly having a good time. It was contagious and I loved their two minutes of glory.

And, contrary to popular belief, Jay-Z was not on Saturday Night Live. 😛
Iman Lababedi Writes:
It’s six months since Vampire Weeekend leaked “Cousins” and watching em play it agaon on SNL rerun last night is still mindblowing. Ezra’s guitar riff played at lightning speed on the lowest two strings from mid guitar to the neck is like an aural equivalent of a chase and it races the song to the end. The lyric, a bit oblique, hits me as being about a wedding. Watching SNL’s cameraman’s close up of the intrumental hook the quest is for the squeeze/release of pop momentum.
