Usher’s “Raymond Vs Raymond” Reviewed: Anybody Remember Vibes? by Iman Lababedi

I fucking hate rock critics.

I hate their self-satisified fact-checking, kiss ass editing, two articles a monthing, Pcing, lockstep walking, dance hating asses.

Fuck em.

Fuck em for not getting Blacked Eyed Peas seminal The E.N.D. which got a 60% approval rating on Metacritic.. I don’t have to claim to be smarter than the imbecile at Slate who wrote: “, who, when freed from the self-sabotaging stupidity of his crew, proves himself an adequate dance-pop beatsmith.”ADEQUATE DANCE-POP BEATSMITH???? The moron in question is Eric Anderson of Slate who seem to go out of their way to offend my every sensibility.

I don’t have to claim to be much smarter than these guys. Just read what I’ve had to say about BEP’s masterpiece.

And now read this.

What sort of mass insanity takes over the rock journalism who are so beat unconscious they gave Usher’s wonderful party album Raymond Vs Raymond a 61% approval rating.

The best dance album, and the best hip hop album, so far this year, it is as shallow as a wade in the kids pool and as deep as a topped over in the club multi tracked, multi layered, multi guest starred album is gonna get.

Maybe they heard “Papers” and thought they were getting something more mature for their $1.29 a song. Instead, they got one knock out dance number after another. If we get a better 1, 2, 3, 4, than ” She Don’t Know”, “OMG”, “Guilty” and “Lil Freak” this year , it’s only gonna be because T.I. (who is so good on “Guilty” -he seems to elevate the fucking song till it’s like a hovercraft above the dancefloor) releases a newbie.
Elsewhere the ballads are few and far between and Usher gets what there is of em, a coupla songs are about the divorce and the kid don’t drag down the proceedings and for the most part this is the purest of dance moves. Sexy? Sure. Sexist? Probably. Great in da club? Made for it. I can hear five or six potential hits.

One complaint… where’s the explicit “Lil Freak”.

Otherwise the entire rock journalist establishment can go fuck emselves and you can get at the very least “She Don’t Know”, play it real loud and dance around your bedroom in your underwear. We called that good vibes in my day.
