A charity singalong, country pop, an AOR hit that took off after it was heard on the soundtrack of a cop shop and seven slices of hip hop dance production. Half the charts from last year. So what have we learnt?
For one thing, we’ve learnt there is a glacial slowness to change at the top of the charts: “Tik Tok” has been there for nine weeks but dotted through out is Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga and David Guetta (featuring Akon -who memorably noted he can now retire after Lady Gaga, who is signed to his label’s) -success stories from the summer.
Haiti 25 doesn’t count but it is interesting to know Young Money is doing better than Mr. Cash Money.
Otherwise it seems clear that when it comes to the world of song, it goes from the dance clubs to the Ipod at this point.
