-Let me explain, U2 may well have been one of the greatest bands on the 1990s but of the past 25 years? Are you koking me? I would put Public Enemy and Nirvana before them to name but too.
It is really simple. forget everything else you've heard about (or I've written) about U2 or Bono, because if what I'm about to write wasn't true, I'd forgive em for it: their recorded work since 2004 has been abysmal. From 1991 to 2000 they were indeed a great band.
Achtung Baby Grade A
Zooropa Grade: A
Pop; Grade: A
All That You Can't Leave Behind Grade: A+
And since then? Two mammonth dogs in 12 years. They got stuck in a moment and they haven't gotten out of it. Q named them the best band in the past 25 years. Pn the other hand Q named OK Computer the best album of all time.
PS, Coldplay got voted Best Act In The World Today. This is what Chris Martin considers humility: "U2 are the best band in the world at the moment. We are about seventh," No, Coldplay are around 700th. Plus your new album is so baffled big time rock magazines are stying to figure out how to tell the truth and not piss off your PR people.
