I can take or leave Warner subsidiary Fueled By Ramen's roster of proto-pop stars. Paramore I can simply leave. But some of the others, Cobra Starship" are pretty good and so is Fun. Rihanna on the other hand is addicted to four on the floor and so am I and they have both recently released singles and they are both really good.
Rihanna is working with the talented DJ Calvin Harris on "We Found Love" to good effect. The beat is very modern dance by the numbers -more Guetta than Dr. Luke by the time he takes over a minute it. Rihanna sounds really good, I al very interested to hear her Coldplay collaboration; Rihanna sings white boy pop very, very well. And "We Found Love" is a very strong dance song. The remix will be SICK. Grade: A-
Fun are the latest in a long line of FBR poptart boys, and "We Are Young" is a sold at auction pop anthem for the teens of tomorrow.It builds slow but steady and has the loud ringing streched out chorus over reaching itself. And then a coupla minutes in Janelle Monae joins in and the backup singers add "nyah nyahs" like they were cribbing from the book of McCartney. An anthem for 21st century children. Grade: B+
