I received an email from itunes today and for once they weren’t hitting up the wrong credit card for $30. Nope, instead they were giving me a free remix of a Ke$ha song, “Blah Blah Blah” by DJ Skeet Skeet because I had ponied up the dough for Animal yo those many months ago.
This was followed, almost immediately!, by an email from the most disappointingly name PR company in the world, Girlie Action, pointing me to Stereogum where I could download a free remix of Australian singer Sia’s by Diplo.
Both of these together pushed Shit Horse aside for awhile… “Blah” you know from the album but this is a pretty good idea for a remix: it is a simpl synth bleep in the background looped under the original track though sometimes it takes front and center and even a solo!! In the end it’s over a minute long than the original and will be a blast on the dance floor.
On the other hand we don’t know (why am I using the royal we? -i mean, I) don’t know the original of Sia’s “Clap Your Hands” but Diplo’s remix is hauntingly old fashioned. An atmosphereic space and sound odyssey all jitterry echo’s and looped pharses. Pretty fucking awesome as well.
Long live the remix, right? Like Julie Burchill once said, i’d rather here a good song twice than a bad song once.
