Produced by Ridley Scott, on July 22nd and July 30th, there will be local screenings of “Springsteen And I”, a motion picture by Springsteen fans about the greatness that is Bruce and though I have only seen the trailer it looks… Well, it looks a little pathetic but maybe the point isn’t to make a big statement movie but to make a Valentines Card to Bruce and fans.

By the way, despite the likelihood that Bruce would wallop me if he was aware of me and we actually met, I consider myself one of (a fan I mean, lousy sentence, right?).  So I will be going to this movie.

This is part of the blurb about it (the rest of the blurb is completely nauseating): “… his extensive music collection has been able to conjure a sense of purpose and meaning that has created a personal bond between the fans and the artist. Springsteen & I was a call out to the fans worldwide, to make a documentary about what Bruce Springsteen means to them and celebrate the impact that his music has had on them. Produced by Ridley Scott Associates/Scott Free/Black Dog Films and Mr Wolf, Springsteen & I incorporates video submissions from over 2,000 fans from across the world in the ultimate collective filmmaking experience made by the fans for the fans and includes Springsteen performing some of his greatest hits and exclusive never-before-seen archival concert footage.”

Let me paraphrase: instead of doing the work themselves, they got the fans to do it for them. I have several fans who on the cusp of fanaticism, who for decade after decade see every local show and one spent a summer following him along.

Two days only, July 22nd and 30th,  and I got a tix at AMC on 42nd street but there are  showings throughout the country, here is the link http://www.fathomevents.com/search?q=bruce+springsteen and here is the trailer…
