I was just sitting here and a really good question came to mind…What is the one song you never want to hear again? My pick, and my cousin Lauren agrees with me is Roxanne by The Police.
I have received about 20 Facebook responses to this question, plus all my peeps at rocknyc wrote in.
There were some very interesting songs, some funny songs, also some songs I never even heard of. A few people listed entire artist catalogues that they wouldn’t mind never hearing again.
Let’s start off with one that I totally disagree with. One of the great writers of rocknyc is Helen Bach. She said Bob Seger’s “Night Move”. Helen- Are you crazy!?. Bob Seger is over the best American singer song writers. This song, amongst a bunch of his others has and will stand the test of time.
Another rocknyc writer Mike Nessing mentioned the entire Eagles catalogue. My cousin Glenn mentioned everything from Celine Deon, and my earliest friend Neal mentioned everything from Britney Spears. Hey Mike- When you’re ready, you can send me your Eagles collection. I will gladly take them off your hands. Glenn and Neal- Keep your CDs or burn them.
Other songs that were mentioned were Rock Lobster (B-52s), 500 Miles (Proclaimers), Hey There Delilah (Plain White T’s), Cats in the Cradle (Harry Chapin). I don’t necessarily agree with all of these. I like Cats and the T’s. 500 Miles and continue walking. As for Rock Lobster, I like the food, hate the song. Sorry Mike.
Christine and Bonnie both mentioned party songs…Chicken Dance and Electric Slide. What’s a party without these two songs? A great party! Haha. Last time I heard these two songs was probably at my Bar Mitzvah (about 2 decades ago).
There were a few songs mentioned that I never heard of. My co-worker Jessica and my cousin Allyson said Fireflies from Owl City. Sorry guys, never heard it, but please don’t try to sing it to me. LOL.
Bobby Sciortino said Juelz Santana – Monster Music and Iman mentioned “Skinny Little Bitch” by Hole. Again, never heard these two songs, but coming from these two music pros I can assume that they suck.
But the winner of the night has to go to my lovely wife Raina. She mentioned “Pieces of Me” from Ashley Simpson. We were singing that song all night last night after she said it. I think we were giving Shea a headache. Maybe when we have a fight I will start playing this song over and over again. Love ya babe.
Well, there you go. I will think of another question down the road that will get your thinking caps working.
