Three Songs by Iman Lababedi

Some days a coupla songs will take over your music collection…
Alley Boy – Gucci Mane – The take on the newbie, some recorded before Gucci went to jail and some after, is 2 is not as great as Burrrprint the orginal. Dunno about that. I think on a song like this you’ve got just about everything modern hip hop should have: an addictive backing track, a great vocal hook: “How you livin’ n—a, I’m doin’ aaaite…” Another keeper off a terrific album.
Tell ‘Em – Sleigh Bells – This is Mates Of States as a dance band conglom with exploding drums and bpms up the ying yang. A studio creation to the tips of its power tools except the chick singer has one of those cool shitfalsetto vocals. Terrificstuff and you wanna keep on hearing those explosions. Plus: they mix the vocals just right.
No Surprises – Regina Spektor – I think weasel faced Thom Yorke should pay Regina cash money to sing all of radioheads lead songs. She could be to Radiohead what Peter, Paul and Mary were to Bob Dylan. She makes em more than pleasurable, she makes em everything they claim to be.
