Those I Forgot About # 2: Cold War Kids

What can you say about a band that you never think of but every time they show up on a mix or a shuffle you have to stop what you’re doing and find out who they are because a) you can’t remember who they are and b) they are fucking awesome.

Meet Cold War Kids.

The best band I ignore.

They are a strange band, both generic and completely memorable and on the brink of huge things.

I’ve written about them maybe twice and this despite them performing one of the great songs on, I think, Letterman without a rhythm section and recording one of the great sets ever on daytrotter.com.

A California indie rock band, Cold War Kids have opened for Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah and White Stripes and I prefer em to both. The daytrotter has the best Velvets steal this side of Americans In France “Every Man I Fall For”.

I bought one song off their new EP Behave Yourself, listened to half of the track went back on Itunes and completed the EP.

I’ll post on it at some point I promise (but buy “Coffee Spoon” now) and next time they’re in town I will absolutely catch em live.

For now, welcome to Rock NYC guys. Lean back, take off your shoes, you’re gonna spend a lotta time here.
