Sports: The All Star Games sure starts late, I was looking for it at 825pm and it still hadn’t started. As Phil Mushnick noted when the Women’s Football Team won the World Cup, if you start the damn game early enough you will get huge ratings. Meanwhile back at the All STar Game, which the American League won 6 – 3, the Mets young pitcher Jason deGrom did something never done before, he struck out the side.

World: With no good alternatives open to the US or the World, all Obama could do was slow down the process for Iran to build a nuclear bomb and leave it to someone to figure out if they can or will stop it. This is great statesmanship and a lesson in the limitations of power.

Live: If you were at Washington, DC’s National Park on Monday you got  see Taylor Swift invite Lorde on stage to perform “Royals” with her (here) and then got to watch her get stuck on a crane: “I’ll just be here forever, stuck up here, unless I choose to jump down.”

Recorded: A new Public Enemy album, Man Plans God Laughs, dropped on Spotify today will be taking up a lot of my life, otherwise I’ve been listening to Foo Fighters with a sense of existential dread getting ready for tomorrow’s gig.
