Death: Frank Gilford died yesterday. A utility player in every single meaning of the word, not least, his entire twelve year football career as a Giant culminating in 1956 when he lead the team to the NFL Championship. Put it this way: he went to the pro bowl eight times in THREE different positions: defensive back, running back, and wide receiver. Gifford was 84.

Writing: I spent six hours working on my Iris DeMent review and so far six people have read it. I’d have been better off calling each one separately and offering my own personal opinion, it would still have saved me four hours.

Live: Getting ready for Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean on Saturday, although the commute to Metlife  is such a bitch I may well pass altogether.

Recorded: A steady diet of Iris with still another three days to Friday. Health were better than I thought but how much better?

World News: China has devalued its currency, that is pretty good news for the US who are so deeply in debt to the country though shows the fault lines of the huge economy.

Death: Just heard that the great Nashville Producer Billy Sherrill is dead at 78. One of the greatest of all time, he owns a place in heaven near Owen Bradley and you know what people wonder why I have my problems with both Americana and Country, and the reason is they don’t make em like this anymore.
