Death: The first concert I ever saw was in 1963 and I was five years old and the Liverpudlian Cilla, a pop singer with exquisite taste in music, a friendship with the Beatles, was the opening act. Cilla who remained in the public eye as a TV presenter and much loved public figure. How loved? When I saw Morrissey at Radio City, he included her in the videos he used to open the show. If you want to give Cilla a listen, a sort of Dionne Warwick in a UK 60s scene singer for David-Bacharach type songs, try “You’re My World” and “Anyone Who Had a Heart.” She died yesterday at the age of 72.
Live: I went to Dr. John yesterday but am a little late reviewing it. Why? Because I can’t quite get it down in my mind. Very rare for me, by the way.
Recorded: Miguel’s Wildheart is one of those rare albums that keep on jumping back into my mind and I have to listen to it again. Also Cilla of course.
Presidency: Rumor has it Joe Biden is considering jumping in the fray though what I hear is not only is he as stupid as you think, he is substantially nastier. Still, Hillary looks quite capable of being taken down given the right opponent.
Money: How much do rock stars make for a night? Well, a lot, as we wrote in great detail years ago (a six part series from 2011, read it here) NME got in on it last week, apparently $600,000 for Imagine Dragons. Read it here (ours was more thorough and much better but dated).
