Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons have been appearing nightly on Broadway since 2005, or at least the cast of the show Jersey Boys who play the group.
Since 2005 Jersey Boys had rocked Broadway with the tale of Frankie Valli. That’s all well and good but in honor of their 50th Anniversary, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons will actually have a full week run on Broadway. The Broadway Theater located at 1681 Broadway will host this event beginning October 19 and closing on October 27.
The hits out of this guy are incredible, thirty Billboard top 40 hits, 9 Top 40s as a solo for Frankie. Inducted in to the Hall of Fame and more fame than he could ever imagine. He totally played that Italian role like a Boss. No pun intended. He has even branched to acting with a reoccuring role in the HBO series The Sopranos (why did that show ever end? It was freaking awseome)
Says Valli, 'I am honored to have been able to spend my life doing what I love to do,' said Frankie Valli, 'I've performed around the world in every size theater imaginable, but it has always been my dream to play Broadway.'
So what’s the show about? It’s not. It’s basically Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in residency. If you want a show go see Jersey Boys. I am fairly certain that you will get quips and anecdotes for your dollar- but as for a plot line? Walk like a man….
That was Helen, Iman adds:
I saw Frankie Valli perform a solo set at a packed out lincoln Center a coupla months after Jersey Boy hit, some point in 2006. As a music fan, what do I care about narrative? The music is the narrative and that being the case, Valli sang circles around the cast of the show, who actually had singers in the wings to hit the high notes.
The set was, in fact a little draggy, but still…
And if you add to that a reunited Four Seasons is as important as a united Rolling Stones in its own way, it seems completely unmissable. Lest we forget, Bob Gaudio is still with us. If Gaudio joins him, this will be unmissable. If he doesn't, I will still go.
