The Opening: Webster Theater, Hartford, CT Wednesday August 17, 2011

The Opening was playing at the Webster Theatre in Hartford CT and I'd never heard of them before.  The lead singer, Will,  came up to me before they went on, telling me he liked my hair and hat, and that they were about to go on- not failing to mention the fact that they wore ski masks on stage.  Intrigued, I went to go check them out.

As a big fan of quite a few hardcore bands, I was anything but disappointed.  The vocalists' mannerisms on stage were basically exactly that of Dennis Lee of Alesana.  The same insane, out of control movements that can only happen when someone is completely losing themselves in what they're doing.  His passion was insane and I couldn't take my eyes off of the stage.

Their punchy, loud, metal sound is unlike any other I've heard before.  Their stage presence, positive attitude, and ski masks only added to the fantastic music they were playing.  The bassist was outstanding, while the guitarist played fantastic riffs that really pulled everything together.  The drummer was mind blowing, and the vocals? Unbelievable.

Everything about these guys is absolutely stunning.  Their music is so unique.  The crowd seemed to think so too.  They were giving really positive feedback and it only boosted the band's energy.  The audience was really into it, moving along and captivated.  The Opening got everyone interested, involved, and impressed.

Their set ended with a bang, the band with smiles on their faces.

Keep up with these guys, they're going places.  Don't let the masks scare you.
