"The Debt" is a spy flick about three Mossad agents sent to East Berlin in 1965 to kidnap a former Nazi doctor and bring him back to Tel Aviv to stand trail.
Something goes wrong and he is killed by mistake.
The story time travels between the 1965 and 1997, when one of the three Mossad agents returns to Tel Aviv with news none of them wants to hear.
It is a pretty smart mindfuck and the acting is exemplary. Helen Mirren (as Rachel in the trianle of agents in 1997) we expect to be excellent but Sam Worthington *uou know, from "Avatar") is a surprisingly brooding presense as the intense David and, perhaps best of all, as the young Helen Mirren is Jessica Chastain. She was the best thing about "The Tree Of The Life" and she is the best thing about "The Debt". She is like Audrey Hepburn without the sense of humor.
As for music. Mostly it is brooding "Spy Who Came In from The Cold" atmospherics, wobbly bass and doomsy keybs.
But
At a party scene, the Zombies "She's Not There" plays in the background.
