Left the crap we have heard a million times before.
Missing: McCartney with the two remaining members of Nirvana and Pat Smear playing a crappy new song. BUT AT LEAST A NEW SONG. Look: Nirvana were about angry enervation displaced by anger energized. That was their schtick. Two qualities McCartney knows NOTHING ABOUT. bUT EVEN IF HE DID, SO WHAT? What does this prove exactly? For fucks sake, Cobain has been dead knocking on 20 years, what has this trash got to do with it? AND IT ISN'T EVEN HERE. Because Grohl wants it for his new soundtrack album.
Missing: Springsteen. I mean, he is here with the two lousy songs, but "My City Of Ruins" segueing into "Jersey Girl" and Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce dueting on a terrific "Born To Run" is also missing.
Missing: So is Jon and Bruce singing "Who Say's You Can't Go Home", surely the highlight of the night.
Along with the also Missing: Entire Kanye West set. Absolute genius. Apparently West wasn't satisfied with it… What? He released Cruel Summer but he thinks the set was missing something????
So what makes it worth while:
Here: The Waters slash Eddie Vedder "Comfortably knumb".
Here: Chris Martin's excellent three song set, reaching an unbelievable height with Stipe joining in on "Losing My Religion".
Here: The Stones "You Got Me Rocking" , saved from Voodoo Lounge for all time with an awesome and powerful take. They never play this livew and it was a real treat.
Hallelujah (Sandy Relief Version) – Adam Sandler and Paul Shaeffer – Absolutely brilliant all nyc all the time spoof.
Everything else? Completely useless versions of songs you have owned for decades plus Alicia Keys. The least the producers owed us was the lot. What is this rip off shit?
