That Was The Week That Was: Week of 17th, 2015

New York City: The homeless and bare boobs and bare boobs and the homeless, the streets of New York and no one knows where to look any more. Yesterday 300 women took off theirs bras and walked from Columbus Circus to times Square. The feminist claim that by forcing women to hide their bodies they sexualized women, is a good one. In Islamic States, try showing your ankle in public, your lucky if you don’t get raped. As for the homeless, we don’t know what to do with them, harass them? save them? ignore them? The summer of 2015 right atcha.

Recorded: A good week song for song, album for album less so, but any seven days that includes a new Marshall Crenshaw album, even if it is a compilation, is worth the while. The surprise here is Nathaniel Rateliff, whose new rocking album is nothing but goodness.

Live: Earl Sweatshirt we knew and we expected and other than his sense of proportion, it was good without being a surprise. NxWorries is new to me, but in a very short set they made an immediately believer of me with their neo-soul classic soul rap mix.

Death: Heltah Skeltah rapper Sean Price had a new album, the excellent Songs In The Key Of Price drop days after dying in his sleep at 43 years of age. A real loss.

Sports: CC Sabathia out of the Yanks rotation with a knee injury and the Yanks out of first pace. The Mets five games in first. The mets and the Giants won.
