WEEK FIFTEEN

Sports: After losing a 19 inning marathon to the Red Sox, the Yanks couldn’t regroup the next day. I’d be shocked if we get 90 wins, and we will probably be something in the nature of 80. This does not feel good, but hopefully, something somewhere… The Rangers seem heading for the Stanley Cup!!! Nets about to make the playoffs.

Live: Felled by a bad bad cold, I blew off Rhiannon Giddens (bad) and Young Fathers (disastrous) but did manage to get better in time to see Sufjan Stevens at the Beacon on Saturday. He gave a haunting, memorable and different performance

Recorded: Brian Wilson, Lord Huron, and Young Fathers, released three of the best albums of the year though having missed Young Fathers, a gig I’ve been waiting for for over six months, it is almost painful to listen to now!

Golden Slumbers – Jeremy Brown, the 34 year old lead guitarist for Scott Weiland’s new band the Wiladabouts was found dead. On the day before their first performance in support of Scott’s new album -which needs it. Sad stuff, man that’s young.

Politics – Obama shakes hands with Castro. Really, if decades of embargo, not to mention a failed military coup, hasn’t worked, perhaps a handshake ain’t the worst idea in the world.

Television – Alex Gibney is Ken Barnes for dummies

Weather – As Saturday turned into the Sunday, the wind has quietened down and that yellow thing in the sky? What could it be?
