WEEK EIGHTEEN
Sports: If this doesn’t end the world of boxing, at least as football type supersport for the masses, nothing will. Not only was the Floyd Mayweather Manny Pacquiao over hyped, over priced on Pay Per View, but Time Warner crashed and burned, and the fight itself was a drag. A really really big job poorly done.
Recorded: Part owner of “Fool’s Gold records”, Nick Catchdubs, came up with a really fun album of rap and sounds like no others. Blurs new one wasn’t as bad as its worst moments had me expecting. The new Jason Isbell song “24 Frames” is masterful.
Live: EC was here, he was pretty good as well. Meanwhile, I’m sodded if I could get a ticket to Blur at MHOW, six years of this stuff and not a perk in sight (not a dollar either).
Dead: Ben E King, the former Drifter and of course “Stand By Me” and “Spanish Harlem” singer. BB King has been admitted to hospice. Hospice kinda sucks conceptual: it is a place they put you when you’re about to die. What a bummer.
Weather: It has been a long time coming but summer is on the horizon!!! 75 degrees on Sunday.
Movies: “Avengers: Age Of Ultron” sure did well at the box office but it is bland stuff.
Next Week: Natalie Prass on stage, the new Mumford And Son on record.
