That Was The Week That Was: April 20th, 2015

WEEK SEVENTEEN

Sports: The Rangers take the Penguins in five and now have a break before round two. The games were close but if ever a team seemed capable of winner the cup, this is that. Meanwhile, the Mets have an 11 game winning streak stopped by the Yanks, and then beat up on CC the very next day. The season (unlike the weather) is heating up nicely.

Live: Two great shows, Lee Ann Womack who battled a cold into submission on Monday at City Winery and Manic Street Preachers who performed The Holy Bible from one end to the other and then got even better. It is rare I get to see two of the years best shows back to back.

Recorded: At the start of the week I went: 1 – Sam Lewis, 2 – Alabama Shakes, now I say 1- Alabama Shakes, 2 – Sam Lewis. But it is close and they are both very solid albums. # 3, you ask? Young Thug.

Tickets: I got James Taylor and Alabama Shakes, both at Forest Hills. I am still waiting to see when the Rangers start round two before deciding upon checking out the  Eric Clapton  70th birthday gig.

Local Politics: At what point does the NYPD really give Mayor Bill a run for his money? Whatever you wanna say about the Progressive Mayor, he sure has the power of his convictions. First with Hillary and now with Bratton… you gotta thing, right?

Weather: what we want is steady 70s, what we’re getting is steady 50s.

World: 2500 dead in an Earthquake in Nepal… terrible, and now they are saying scientists expected it to happen.
