The Presidential Race: Forget Donald Trump for a moment, the man is a clown and a danger to any chances the GOP may have had to get a Republican Presidency, but whatever. This hatred of women, this anti-choice rhetoric, this build a big wall anti-immigration, all this stuff: it is too much, why are they forcing Americans to hold their nose and vote for Hillary. Can’t they find one candidate who isn’t out of their mind?
Live: Four concerts in seven days, a pretty awesome way to spend a week of vacation. Hest of the lot? James Taylor singing “Carolina In My Mind” and following it with a revelatory “Your Smiling Face” and ending the trio with “Fire And Rain” -magical stuff.
Recorded: Iris DeMent, Worriers, the Legacy edition of Presley’s Today, the Lil B and Chance The Rapper remix and as for Dre -I just can’t hear the sucker.
Vacation week: I know I’m a weirdo but that was just about perfect… when what you want is just a variation on what you have it is easier to enjoy life. Great weather, lots of concerts, movies, reading plus writing six hours a day! My idea of fun.
Death: 90s rapper Sean Price, he was part of Heltah Skeltah, a solo artist and more recently Random Axe, died in his sleep at the age of 42.
Sports: A horrendous week for the Yanks, they went from being ahead by six games to being ahead by 2 and 1/2. That’s the way to blow it but good. Though the good news is the starting pitching, with one exception, was pretty darn tight.
Movies: The Fantastic Four are not my idea of fun or fabulousness.
