So how dead has the music biz been? As the only music blog in the world who hasn’t taken any time off whatsoever, Helen and the rest of us have scavenged for stories (I actually posted a top 50 death metal list… I know).
So, after reading Woody’s post about Sam not liking music but preferring movies, I came up with this entirely random, top of my head, ten movie musicals I love list.
1. The Sound Of Music – I can sing every word and have.
2. Quadrophenia – The only time I have found Sting even vaguely palatable.
3. Hail! Hail! Rock And Roll – Actually, it was pretty awful but bless Chuck Berry for not giving a shit about all the white rock stars sucking him off.
4. A Hard Day’s Night – Either this or the Sound Of Music would be # 1 on a best list
5. West Side Story – Sondheim wrote the lyrics.
6. South Pacific – A musical about racism, whodda thunk it.
7. Rude Boy – I was there at some of the filming of this (the stuff at the Macnhester Airport hotel)
8. Summer Holiday – We didn’t quite grasp why Cliff was a bachelor boy at the time!! “BIG NEWS” still makes me jump up and down.
9. The Punk Rock Movie – I was at some of this as well.
10. The Wall – So bad it’s bad.
